15th Annual Halloween Trick or Treat in Malden Center. Come join in on the fun from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. The fun starts in the parking lot next to the Exchange Street Apartments where kids 12 and under can pick up a special Trick or Treat Treasure Map guiding them to the best spots to visit for candy and treats in the square! There will also be cool vehicles to visit and fun crafts. Don't forget to stop by Malden Access TV's "Haunted Studio' on your way down Pleasant Street! City of Malden - Substance Abuse Prevention The Chamber was proud to host a positive youth development (PYD) forum this summer, which was very well attended. Patty Kelly, President of the Chamber reported, "The Positive Youth Forum was very well received by the Malden Chamber of Commerce community. Business owners and non -profit organizations in attendance learned a lot about creating a culture that engages our youth in meaningful activities. At Housing Families, we provide the opportunity for students over the age of 14 to tutor in our after school program and volunteer their time in other ways, such as helping with administrative tasks. It is a way for Housing Families to keep in touch with students and to listen to what is important to them in order to have a meaningful experience as a volunteer. The PYD forum explained in detail how this benefits the teen population in our neighborhoods. It was helpful to hear great suggestions on how to create a positive environment where we can work together to ensure teens have opportunities to feel productive and welcome in our business community." My Little Best Friends Early Learning Center has an immediate opening for Part -Time and Full Time Teachers. Applicants should have previous experience working with young children. EEC certification or coursework is desirable. Candidate will be expected to help with the smooth daily routines and operation of the program. Applicants must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with My Little Best Friends Early Learning Center Policies and Procedures.
We seek nurturing, patience, flexible, imaginative, creative teachers who can effectively plan and problem solves with a team. The ability to understand and willingness to work with a range of learning styles. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and others. City of Malden Job Opportunity is looking for a Clerk 2 in the Controllor's office. Working under the supervision of the Controller and/or his designee, performs day to day administrative duties and key functions for the Department. Processes and verifies accounts payable warrants; reviews all invoices submitted for payment for accuracy; assists in verifying and updating cash receipts; makes updates to the general ledger by performing various journal entries such as expense entries, budget transfers, and budget amendments. Works directly with the public on requests for information relating to the Department; maintains a listing of City wide fixed assets; maintains a comprehensive database of all vendors doing business with the City and completes other tasks as assigned by the Controller.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; must have the ability to manage multiple duties and projects simultaneously; also must have effective interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with a diverse customer base both internal and external to the Department. Additionally, must possess a demonstrated technical skill in using Microsoft applications, financial software packages, and demonstrable proficiency in learning new software systems. Accurate record keeping and strong organizational skills are also a must. A minimum of 3 – 5 years of skilled clerical experience is required. Multilingual preferred.
