Grace Hill: At the First Christmas, Joseph Was Great but Not Sufficient, Matthew 1:18-25
Grace Hill, a Gospel centered, Christ focused Presbyterian, family church

Joseph Was So Noble, but God Still Sent His Angel with a Different Plan.

Matthew 1:18-25

Christmas time can give us many things that help our common humanity. Christmas vacation from school and work can bring a slower pacedowntime to sip cocoa or tea, time to lend a hand to friends, and patience with children and family. Christmas is a time we want to be able to live out more kindness and goodwill.  But despite those minor, temporary improvements to our character, the first Christmas story reminds us that we need more and that God intends much more. Joseph is incredibly noble, kind, and conscientious despite his awkward situation. But he still needs God's intervention. Likewise, our response to Christmas is often good in human terms, but Christ wants to do much more in usin our inner selves.  In the first Christmas, God acts in Christ to heal not only our external acts but our internal being: our fears, our sins, our longing for intimacy with God. This Sunday, come and consider how the quandaries of the first Christmas give hope to our human condition.  Matthew 1.18-25.
As of this email, there is winter weather in the forecast for this coming Sunday. As we get closer and conditions become more certain, we will be sure to post more information via the Grace Hill website and via email. Stay tuned!
