Onstage this month:
May 15

Kevin Devaney is a first year MFA student at Sarah Lawrence. He likes cooking, ultimate frisbee, and madcap adventures. Anguine, awake, apocalyptic, and avast are some of his favorite words beginning with the letter “A,” what are yours? Kevin is the founder of Best Damn Poetry Show in Western Mass, and the Sarah Lawrence Spoken Word Collective: the campus’ first weekly poetry open mic.

8:00ish   Open Mic
9:00ish   Feature Poets

PARTICIPATE & PRACTICE!  Open Mic is here for you. Open mic understands.  He enjoys receiving word-sounds and spit from first-timers, seasoned slammers, and everyone in between.

BIG THANKS to the over 50 of you who
showed up for our first show at The Elevens! We hope to see you again this month. Who knows what the night will bring? Last time there were surprises involving bellydancing, a blindfold, snack chips, and at least one hysterically laughing poet.

These awesome photos from the show (and more to come) were taken during the Feature Poets segment by the talented couple, Lisa & Doug Merrill.  We hope they might like to hang around and become our regular photographers at the show!

The Elevens, 140 Pleasant St.
             Downtown Northampton

There's a $3 cover. 21+

They open for business earlier-than-usual for our show, so let's make them happy doing it. This means  1. BRING friends  2. BUY drinks  3. TIP the bartender (EVEN if you're only drinking one seltzer & cranberry juice). Thank you.

She was JUST named NORTHAMPTON'S official Poet Laureate for the next two years!  I serve on the Northampton Arts Council, and I'm VERY happy that the selection committee made the right choice in

Lenelle Moise

A Northampton-based Spoken Word Poet, Playwright, Performer, and Collage Artist who you should definitely be aware of if you're not already.

Keep your eye out for an annoucement about our upcoming POETRY CONTEST just for you, our newsletter subscribers!

Yup, there's even an awesome P-R-I-Z-E.
