12 noon to 3 pm

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Lead and/or starring character must be Black and/or of African descent, this includes the following groups/cultures: Adivasi, Aboriginal Australians, Dravidian, Pilipino Negrito / Ati, Seminole, Dalit, African Latino, Arawak, Carib, Garifuna, “Black Indian”, Black African groups/tribes, East Timorese, Solomon Islander/indigenous Pacific Islander, African/indigenous Caribbean, African Brazilian, indigenous Fijian, indigenous Maori, multi/bi-racial, et al.);

OR

  • Film must be directed by a person of Black and/or of African descent, this includes the following groups/cultures: Adivasi, Aboriginal Australians, Dravidian, Pilipino Negrito / Ati, Seminole, Dalit, African Latino, Arawak, Carib, Garifuna, “Black Indian”, Black African groups/tribes, East Timorese, Solomon Islander/indigenous Pacific Islander, African/indigenous Caribbean, African Brazilian, indigenous Fijian, indigenous Maori, multi/bi-racial, et al.);

AND

  • Film must be or document speculative fiction or experimental film focusing on speculative fiction themes. Speculative fiction themes are: Science-fiction (“sci-fi”), non-pornographic fantasy, horror, and/or animation; 
  • Film must be less than two years old; and
  • Film must be uploaded as a *.mov/*.avi/*.mpg or you may choose to mail THREE(3) DVDs to the mailing address given in the response email once you submit your form. THREE(3) DVDs are requested for the reviewers/judges.

International submissions, if your film is accepted, please submit accordingly: NTSC signal formatted for Region 1 DVD players.
