how to keep going talk
Hey y’all,

Here are 10 things I thought were worth sharing this week:
  1. How To Keep Going,” my talk about staying creative in chaotic times. I really loved giving this talk. (And as I’ve hinted before, it’s a preview of my next book.) Please share with anybody you think needs to see it. (And let me know if you want me to come give it at your next event!)
  2. Does having a day job mean making better art?
  3. I’m currently reading Frederic Gros’s A Philosophy of Walking and Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Lathe Of Heaven, which is good, but because it is all about dreams and sleeping, knocks me out about 2-3 pages in. (Did you know UKLG put out an electronica album?)
  4. Community and creativity in mundane retail spaces.
  5. This 2005 BBC4 interview with Kate Bush touches on so many things that interest me: the creative process vs. publicity, motherhood and art, digital tools vs. the human voice... it’s great. (Have you listened to “Cloudbusting” lately? Holy moly.)
  6. Quick thoughts on writing.
  7. In China and Japan a copy is just as good as the original.
  8. Ear and eye candy: I re-watched Phantom Thread a few nights ago and it was even weirder (and funnier!) than I remembered. (I love the soundtrack.) Also: Prince’s long-out-of-print movie, Sign O' The Times, is streaming on Prime
  9. Collaging with a 5-year-old.
  10. Why we need better images.
