The Steal Like An Artist Journal Talk
Hey y’all,

Here are 10 things I thought were worth sharing this week:
  1. “A notebook is a good place to have bad ideas.” If you missed me on tour this fall, here’s video of my talk about journaling. (Even if you did see me, there are links to some of the articles I mentioned.)
  2. George Saunders on his writing education.
  3. A feel-good story about a depressed woman who discovered air guitar.
  4. Brian Eno on how beautiful things grow from unpromising beginnings. (From a good book about his album Another Green World.)
  5. A reminder: If you want fans, you have to be a fan first.
  6. A free documentary on PBS about the paintings of Kehinde Wiley.
  7. Almost every time it rains — a rare occurrence in Texas — I watch Singin’ in the Rain with my sons. Here's why the movie is so special and how it was made.
  8. Ear candy: steel drums and the band BØRNS.
  9. Some â€œshow your work!” stories: the streaming site Twitch launched a channel dedicated to watching artists as they work, how a company made millions sharing their work, and Derik Sivers came up with the cool idea of a â€œ/now” page to show folks what you're working on right now. (Here's mine.)
  10. I love seeing how people are using their journals. If you like yours, please consider leaving me a kind review on Amazon or Goodreads.

Want to be more creative? Have trouble keeping a journal? I made a notebook just for you.
