WHAT SEEMS DIFFICULT TO US IS SIMPLE TO GOD! by Cory Vance // RC Student's Pastor
"But this is only a SIMPLE thing for the Lord..." ~2 Kings 3:18 (NLT)
The backstory: Three kings (Jehoshaphat, Joram, and the King of Edom) joined forces to take out the King Of Moab. They reached a point where they thought they were dead because there was no water for their men or the animals. They believed they were going to lose. In fact, they even asked, “The Lord has brought us here to lose?"
Have you ever felt like that? I have felt like that to the point of asking the same question, “God, why would you bring me this far only to lose?â€
Back to our story. The kings began searching for a prophet of God. Enter Elisha.
This was Elisha’s response in 2 Kings 3:15-18 (NLT):
“Now bring me someone who can play the harp.†While the harp was being played, the power of the Lord came upon Elisha, and he said, “This is what the Lord says: This dry valley will be filled with pools of water! You will see neither wind nor rain, says the Lord, but this valley will be filled with water. You will have plenty for yourselves and your cattle and other animals. But this is only a simple thing for the Lord, for he will make you victorious over the army of Moab!â€
How does Elisha get close enough to God in order to hear his voice? He worships God! If we just took a moment to focus on God, maybe, just maybe we could hear Him. Maybe we could have an encounter. Sometimes we blame other people as our reason for being distracted when in reality we need to own up and choose to take the time to get away from people long enough to worship God. There are no excuses. When we truly take the time to worship God our prayers will get answered. It might not be the answer we want or even in our timeline, but God will answer.
We make things more difficult than they are. Remember, the things we want God to do in our lives are simple to Him. They are not difficult. They are not too vast or wide for God. He doesn’t play games when it comes to His children. He just wants our worship. The kings who were lost and distracted by what was in front of them were told that day by God, “This is simple for me to do. You will have plenty.â€
Do you want plenty? Do you want God to do something simple?
Whatever is going on in your life, no matter how big or small…is simple to God. Worship Him and watch what happens.
