Fiscal Year 2017 City of Atlanta Budget Hearings

Fiscal Year 2017 City of Atlanta Proposed BudgetThe Reed Administration has just released its proposed City of Atlanta Budget for Fiscal Year 2017, which begins July 1, 2016. As presented, the General Fund budget would increase modestly from $590 million in FY2016 to $605 million in the coming year. Of particular note, there is no proposed increase in property taxes (in fact, there would be a slight rollback in the City's millage rate). The City of Atlanta Department of Finance has published the following FY2017 Budget Presentation as a high-level overview of their proposals.

City Council has begun its deliberations on the proposed budget. We welcome your input during this process. For the full hearing schedule, please click here. The Public Hearings on the budget are:

  • Public Hearing and Interactive Virtual Town Hall Meeting - Thursday, May 12, at 6:00 p.m. in City Council Chambers
  • Public Hearings for Tax Millage Rate on Tuesday, May 17, at 6:00 p.m. in City Council Chambers

Atlanta residents, business leaders and other stakeholders will have an opportunity to ask questions about the City of Atlanta's proposed FY 2017 general fund budget during the May 12th combined Public Hearing and Interactive Virtual Town Hall Meeting. The meeting will be streamed live on the City of Atlanta's website (click on the ATL City Channel 26 icon). Residents are urged to submit question and comments via the following:

The program is available to individuals with citations issued before January 1, 2015. Court sessions will be held weekdays at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Court will offer signups for these sessions starting at 7 a.m. each day for same day service.
