Just a quick email to let you know that works will begin to upgrade the Mike Turtur Bikeway today. It will take some time but please be patient. It is exciting to see this upgrade underway and we look forward to enjoying the outcome.
Unley Council has asked us to please pass onto you the following information to try and minimise any inconvenience experienced by riders:
"As you are aware, the Department of Infrastructure and Transport, in partnership with the City of Unley, is undertaking an upgrade of the Mike Turtur Bikeway.
The project consists of replacing segments of the current Bikeway with an improved path for people walking and bike riding. The Department will undertake all civil works associated with the upgrade, which is expected to commence in the coming weeks. Council will remove and replace various vegetations and provide new lighting along segments of the Bikeway.
To facilitate the Department’s civil works in the coming weeks, Council will commence the removal of vegetation on 15 January 2020. Walking and cycling diversions will be in place from 15 to 25 January 2021, between the hours of 7.30am to 4pm. Access to Tram Stop 2 is via Bendall Avenue. Refer to the attached map of the detour that will be put in place for people walking and bike riding, whilst the path is closed.
Council is looking forward to the completion of this exciting project in partnership with the State Government over the coming months.
We will aim to advise you of further impacts as the works progress."
It is great to receive this timely and helpful information in advance from the City of Unley so we can share it with you.
