Still More Branch News that didn't make it into the recent issue

Sandhills/Southern Pines

The branch’s Ruth Pauley Lecture Series is scheduled to kick off in September

with the topic of “Women’s Sports:  Title IX and the Glass Dome”. The speaker will be sports journalist Christine Brennan at Pinehurst’s Carolina Hotel on 9/27. Then, in October, the branch will host speaker Robert Watson discussing “Dysfunction in Washington:  History, Causes, and Consequences” at Pinecrest High School’s Lee

Auditorium on 10/31.

Also on October 18th, a short film entitled “Legalize Equality,” focused on the topic of the ERA, will be shown at Sandhills Community College with assistance from the local League of Women Voters. This event will be opened to the public.

The branch joined in with early literacy efforts headed up by the “Partnership for Children” in Moore County. Members will take their successful Laundromat Literacy program to ALL laundromats in the county this year.

Our apologies that this did not get added to the September newsletter before it was sent out.
