Small Town Love Affair
I love the city. Strange for a girl from rural Wisconsin, I know, but the energy, noise, concrete and glass have always captivated me. Or so I thought. Much to my surprise, traveling in the Winnebago for the past three years has taught me that, when you're traveling with dogs, the small towns are where it's at.
Who, for example, would expect Durango to have a five acre dog park? Or Telluride to have a free, pet friendly gondola ride? And then there's Salida - a town I'd never heard of before it was nominated in the Best City for Pet Travelers tournament and beat San Francisco! Our visit there uncovered a vibrant downtown with pet friendly restaurants and shops and enough pet friendly trails to keep you busy for weeks.
The next time you're planning a pet friendly trip, take a look at the small towns in your own backyard. The dogs are happier without all the hustle and bustle, the business owners are pleased to see you, and you just might discover you've been overlooking a hidden gem.
Something For Nothing ...
We got caught in the rain on a hike last week. Soaked to the bone, we had no choice but to jump in the car and drip dry. There's really nothing like that smell in your car upholstery and RV carpet. Thank goodness we had Willowbrook's new pet odor eliminating / odor absorbing sachets!
These eco-friendly sachets are made in the US, are non-toxic, and are formulated to neutralize odors in the air. They come in two scents, Fetchin' Good and Purrrfectly Fresh - drop one under the seat of your car or in the door pocket to keep your next road trip smelling fresh.
Are things a little smelly around your place? We can help! The first 45 people to respond will receive a free Fetchin' Good and Purrrfectly Fresh sachet from Fresh Scents. Just email us your name and shipping address (one per household, US only).
Where We've Been ...
Travel has changed for us a bit since we added a toad to the the mix. Getting around has gotten a lot easier and we took advantage by heading to the hot springs and driving through a spectacular national park.
Where We're Headed ...
We're spending the next couple weeks in the Spokane area, with a quick trip for me down to Vegas for SuperZoo. When I get back we'll head to Glacier National Park and possibly Banff! If you know of anything we won't want to miss with the dogs, or will be close enough to meet up for coffee, please let us know via Facebook or Twitter.
Thank You ...
