NYCEDC President Outlines Plans to Grow Life Sciences ›

Maria Torres-Springer stated on Nov 5th that NYCEDC will continue to invest in biotechnology sector.  “We project that there will be market demand for as much as 3 million square feet of new life sciences space by the year 2025 - nearly triple the current amount of this specialized space - and it presents a tremendous opportunity for new development and investment by the private and public sectors,” said Torres-Springer.

The round was led by Topspin Partners. Earlier is 2015, Mid-Atlantic Bio Angels announced that Symbiotic Health was named "Best in Show" at the first of MABA's 1st Pitch Life Science events in 2015

Intra-Cellular Announces Positive Phase III Results ›
NYC based Intra-Cellular Therapies announced positive results in a Phase III trial for its lead CNS drug ITI-007. Intra-Cellular Therapies is developing novel drugs for the treatment of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases and diseases of the elderly, including Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. After starting up in NYC in 2002, Intra-Cellular’s market cap is now over $2B. 

NYC Biotech Tax Credit ›
On Oct 15, New York City Council Members Daniel Garodnick and Julissa Ferreras-Copeland introduced a bill to continue the NYC Biotechnology Tax Credit for three more years, through December 2018. The credit offers NYC biotech companies up to $250,000 in a given year for a single company, and $3 million for all companies combined. In 2013, the city awarded $2.4 million through the program to 28 companies, up from 23 companies the previous year.
