Park Map
Construction Warning
Please note that two major east-west streets—Half Day Road (Route 22) to Ravinia’s north and Lake Cook Road to our immediate south—are under reconstruction. The roadwork may also throw off the timing of traffic lights. If you are driving to Ravinia from the south (especially via I-294), you may want to plan an alternate exit route south of Lake Cook Road. Otherwise, please allot time for traffic delays. If convenient, the Metra North Line commuter train stops at our front gate and a festival roundtrip costs only $7.

Middle Earth Comes to Ravinia

“My first score for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring, was the beginning of my journey into the world of Tolkien and I will always hold a special fondness for the music and the experience,” says composer of The Lord of the Rings film trilogy Howard Shore. Hear Shore’s Academy® and Grammy®-winning score come to life on August 18 and August 19 when Ravinia brings Middle Earth to the North Shore. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra accompanies the film The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring while the epic film plays on video screens in the pavilion and on the lawn.

Meet Chicago-based musician and writer Doug Adams, author of The Music of The Lord of the Rings, prior to the concerts on each night in front of Ravinia Gifts. Adams will be signing copies of his book beginning at 6:45 p.m. on each concert night.

Gala Benefit Concert
George Gershwin himself said that he couldn’t imagine a more delightful place to play than Ravinia. Enjoy an evening of Gershwin music when the CSO, conducted by James Conlon, is joined by an all-star cast on Saturday, July 23 for the Gala Benefit concert. Soprano Sylvia McNair teams up with Broadway’s hottest new star Kelli O’Hara, leading man Brian Stokes Mitchell and one of the all-time great players of Rhapsody in Blue, Kevin Cole to help recreate the all-Gershwin program that the composer performed at his one and only appearance at Ravinia Festival in 1936.

Opera Night at Ravinia: Puccini’s Tosca
Once denounced as Puccini’s “shabby little shocker,” Tosca today is revered as one of the most popular operas of all time and an acknowledged masterpiece of music drama. Patricia Racette, Savatore Licitra and Bryn Terfel star in Puccini’s Tosca on July 30 in the Ravinia pavilion. (Supertitles will be available for this performance.)

Also see Bryn Terfel also perform in the Martin Theatre on August 2 with Brian Zeger on piano.  The Washington Post said of Terfel, “"At this point in Terfel's career, every performance is a master class in singing and stagecraft."
