From me to you about Vivi Magoo
Late breaking news – I’ll be teaching three classes at the Vivi Magoo Art Retreat the first week in November. Even better, the classes are held at The Prairie, Rachel Ashwell’s legendary venue in Round Top, Texas. And the best news of all, in two of the classes, I’ll be joined by my super-hero-artist friend, Michelle Belto!
The Prairie is a dreamy combination of retreat ranch and Shabby Chic showcase – in face, Rachel Ashwell coined that term and has a whole line of Shabby Chic décor and couture. There’s a nifty boutique at The Prairie, too! I can’t wait to get there and check it out, and I hope you’ll consider joining me.
Here are the two full-day classes that Michelle and I are team teaching:

Artists Michelle Belto and Lyn Belisle are a “dream team” in surface design and mixed media. This is the perfect class for paper and fiber explorers, collage artists, and mixed media eclectics. It is a fun class that teaches you to add surface design and color to fabrics and paper by using rust combined with patina dye effects using the shibori method. Read more . . .

This is surface design in its most elemental form – fabric and Stonehenge paper pieces are laid out on the table and strewn with fallen leaves, rose petals, moss, perhaps sprinkled with tea or marigolds. Bundles of nature’s gleanings are wrapped, bound, and steamed then left to transcend and create magic. Read more . . .
And on Thursday, November 5th, I get to teach my beloved Goddess Banner workshop in a new all-day version!
Several years ago, I was lucky enough to take a workshop with Lydia Ruyle, author of “Goddess Icons: Spirit Banners of the Divine Feminine”. It was a wonderful experience. It seemed both familiar and mysterious. I decided to try a new approach to these banners using some experimental mixed media techniques. The idea was a combination of influences from personal retreats I’ve attended and a class on small-space dyeing. And personally, I’ve felt an urge to explore the idea of celebration banners and prayer flags as a way of sending gentle wishes for our planet and its inhabitants. Read More . . .

This will be my first venture with ViVi Magoo, and I already love working with them! Great people, so encouraging and helpful I hope you'll join me in this "maiden voyage" of creativity at The Prairie in Round Rock.
