River Road Development Denied by Council
On Tuesday night, Niagara Falls City Council did not approve the revised Official Plan and Zoning By-law amendment application to permit a 384 unit apartment dwelling, with 34 and 7 storey towers, on River Road.

Mixed-Use, 72 Storey Building Approved for Stanley Avenue 
A 72 storey mixed-use building with hotel and residential units will be built on the corner of Stanley Avenue that has housed a partially-built hotel that was never completed, for years.  On Tuesday night, Council approved the Official Plan and Zoning By-law amendments to:
  • exceed the 30 storey limit for a 72 storey mixed use building on Parcel 1;
  • permit a portion of the required parking for the mixed use building on Parcel 1 to be provided on Parcel 2; and
  • permit a portion of the required parking for Parcel 1 to be provided on Parcel 3 in a 4 storey parking garage plus 1 storey underground

Rendering of the proposed 26 unit townhouse on Montrose Road
26 Unit Townhouse Development Proposal - Montrose Road
On Tuesday, Council approved the Zoning By-law amendment application to rezone the lands to a site specific Residential Low Density, Grouped Multiple Dwellings (R4) zone, to permit a 26 unit townhouse development comprised of 24 stacked townhouse dwelling units and two standard townhouse dwelling units, with additional conditions that and 8 foot surrounding fence be built and that the project be subject to a condominium corporation.

Calendars to Support Walker Family Cancer Centre
As the new year approaches, consider purchasing a calendar in support of the Walker Family Cancer Centre. The calendars have been created by Bobbie Johnston, who is currently battling cancer. Bobbie has created the calendars to raise funds for the Cancer Centre, as a way to show her appreciation for the care she has received.  

Contact Bobbie directly to purchase a calendar by email, A large calendar sells for only $5, and a small for $3.

Dan Patterson Day: November 22, 2019
Niagara Falls Council recognized Dan Patterson, President of Niagara College, and presented him with a print for his retirement from Niagara College. In honour of Dan and his exceptional contribution to the greater community of Niagara during his tenure as President of Niagara College, November 22, 2019 has been proclaimed as "Dan Patterson Day" in Niagara Falls. Best of luck in your retirement, Dan!

Louis Riel Flag Raising: November 15 - 22, 2019
The Niagara Region Metis Council request for a flag-raising ceremony on Friday, November 15th, 2019 through to Friday, November 22nd, 2019 to celebrate "Louis Riel Day" was approved by Council. Historians recognize Louis Riel as an important and positive figure in Canada’s history and in Canada’s expansion in the West.  View more information.

YWCA Niagara Region has been providing services for more than 90 years. Elisabeth Zimmermann, Executive Director of the YWCA, along with Laurie Andrews, Board President,  presented to Council a brief summary of the services the YWCA offers in Niagara Falls. View the presentation.
NTEC (Niagara Training & Employment Agency)
Jodi Delage and Ingrid Muschta, presented to Council and residents an update on the recent NDEAM (National Disability Employment Awareness Month) event that NTEC (Niagara Training & Employment Agency) hosted in partnership with ODEN (Ontario Disability Employment Network) and the services that are provided throughout the Niagara Region.
