Mewburn Road Bridge Now Open
After 10 years, a connection severed between north Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake has been restored, with the official opening of the new Mewburn Road Bridge last week. The bridge closed in April of 2009 due to safety concerns over its deteriorating condition. The new bridge creates a thoroughfare from Mountain Road in Niagara Falls to the Niagara-on-the-Lake roundabout at Niagara Stone Road.

Niagara Falls Construction Hoarding Art Call to Artists
Call to Artists: Construction Hoarding Art
The City of Niagara Falls Recreation and Culture Department invites Niagara-based artists to submit images of original artwork for construction hoarding art. This project will consist of artwork that will be printed by the City and hung on the perimeter of the upcoming Cultural Hub and Farmer’s Market during its construction phase.The deadline for submission is December 16, 2019. Come celebrate the holiday season at the Niagara Falls Farmers' Market by creating your very own custom wreath or table arrangement with Petrullo Floral Design.

  • Saturday, December 14th at 10 AM
    • Table Arrangement Workshop. Cost: $30
    • Kids Size Arrangement. Cost: $15

We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season! Our administrative offices will be closed and Niagara Falls Transit will operate a holiday schedule on the following dates:

Even when administrative offices are closed, the City is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to emergency situations. During the holiday closure, or after regular business hours, please call 905-356-1355 in the event of a municipal service related emergency.

12 Days of Holiday Safety
This holiday season, the Niagara Falls Fire Department would like to remind everyone to take extra precautions in staying safe. Remember these 12 days of holiday safety tips:
  1.  Water fresh trees daily
  2. Check all sets of lights before decorating 
  3. Make sure you have working smoke alarms
  4. Make sure you have working carbon monoxide alarms
  5. Make sure everyone knows how to get out safely if a fire occurs
  6. Use extension cords wisely
  7. Give space heaters space
  8. When you go out, blow out the candles
  9. Keep matches and lighters out of sight and reach of children
  10. Watch what you heat - Always stay in the kitchen while cooking. 
  11. Encourage smokers to smoke outside
  12. There is more to responsible drinking than taking a cab home

Residential Water Meter Replacement Program
The City is replacing all residential water meters throughout Niagara Falls. Technicians are currently in the first replacement area in the City. A map identifying this area is available to view on letstalk.niagarafalls.ca.
Christmas Tree Collection
Christmas Tree Collection: Niagara Region
From January 6 to 10, 2020 place your tree at the curb on your regular collection day by 7 AM. Be sure to remove ALL decorations. Do not bag your tree and, for the safety of collection workers, do not stick it inside or on top of any snow banks. For more information, please visit niagararegion.ca.
