The Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade and the Hamilton-Niagara Partnership would like to invite you to attend a half-day seminar focused on exports to Latin America, and one-on-one meetings with Area Directors of the different markets and Senior Export Advisor in the afternoon.

Latin America is a fast-growing region offering a wealth of export opportunities for Ontario companies. The Forum will focus on the following markets: Argentina, Brazil, the Caribbean, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico and Perú.
Attendees will:

  • Hear Ontario Technology and Advanced Manufacturing companies share their experiences in exporting to Latin markets
  • Discover the unique challenges of the Latin American business environments

37th Annual Winter Festival of Lights Kick's Off in Niagara Falls

The Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights will feature more than three million lights and many new illuminations. Festival officials on Thursday unveiled details of the 37th season, running Nov. 16 to Jan. 12. The award-winning festival's eight-kilometre route through Niagara Parks properties and into surrounding tourist areas will be illuminated daily from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Executive director Tina Myers said this season's edition will feature about 20 new light art exhibits and interactive displays, including 2.4-metre-high letters that spell Play. In between the letters will be illuminated swings. The letters will change colours as guests play. It will be in Queen Victoria Park with illuminated see-saws that were featured last year. A new illuminated Timbits Hockey display depicting animals playing the sport will be showcased. Two giant Christmas ornaments will also be added to the festival route.

As part of a partnership with Amsterdam's Light Art Collection, the festival will feature displays representing world artists. These pieces will provide people opportunity to explore pieces created by artists from Italy, the Netherlands, Singapore, Israel, United Kingdom, France and Hungary.

Myers said the festival last year attracted more than 1.8 million visitors and generated an economic impact of $98 million. It set a record for the number of vehicles that passed through Dufferin Islands — 89,350 cars and more than 400 buses. 

72-Storey Hotel and Residential Development Approved in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls city council approved a 72-storey mixed-use building with hotel and residential units proposed for land on Stanley Avenue in Niagara Falls that for years has housed a partially developed hotel that was never completed. The Applicant is proposing to build one of the tallest buildings in Canada. It would eclipse the Hilton Hotel & Suites on Fallsview Boulevard (56 storeys) as the tallest hotel in Niagara Falls. This hotel is going to be a five-star hotel with 275 condo units and 487 hotel rooms.

Hyatt to Open Three New Hotels in Niagara Falls, Ontario in 2022

Hyatt Hotels Corp. reports that it expects to open more than 20 new hotels in Canada by the end of 2022. Once completed, the new hotel properties will double Hyatt’s presence in Canada.

Among the 20 hotels in its Canadian pipeline are three new hotels in Niagara Falls, Ontario—a dual-branded Hyatt Centric Niagara Falls and Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls project, with 150 guest rooms and 350 guest rooms, respectively, and the 200-room Hyatt Place Niagara Falls.

Taking advantage of the hot tourism market with nearly 15 million visitors per year, the dual-branded new-build Hyatt Centric and Hyatt Regency project will be situated immediately opposite the Fallsview Casino, The Skylon Tower and the 5,000-seat performing arts center that is currently under construction.

The properties located at the main intersection of Fallsview Avenue and Murray Street in Niagara Falls are owned and will be operated by Fallsview Group and are slated to open in 2022.

The Hyatt Place Niagara Falls will be connected to the Scotiabank Convention Center off Stanley Avenue and is centrally located to the tourist district of Clifton Hill and numerous family-friendly attractions and entertainment facilities such as the IMAX cinema, the Niagara SkyWheel and the Fun Zone. Slated to open in 2022, the property is also owned and will be operated by Fallsview Group.
