North is Freedom
A Picture of Wilma Morrison
North is Freedom, a photographic exhibition created by celebrated photographer Yuri Dojc, will run in the Ontario Power Generation Gallery starting September 26, 2020 until January 10, 2021. Dojc describes this exhibit as a “photographic journey celebrating the descendants of freedom-seekers who escaped slavery in the United States in the years before the American Civil War”. Dojc is best known for his observational approach to the past. In North is Freedom, his work illustrates the capacity of art to convey a narrative that continues to touch us, now and into the future.

And We Rise
And We Rise - An exhibition that takes you to the day Niagara Falls United in a peaceful demonstration to break the banners of systemic racism. Sept. 26 -Jan. 10, JusticeForBlackLives
And We Rise, an exhibition co-created with Justice 4 Black Lives founder, Sherri Darlene, will run simultaneously in the Ontario Power Generation Gallery. Through the use of images and artefacts, this exhibition marks a historic day in our City, when more than 4000 people came together on June 6, 2020 for a peaceful demonstration to help break the barriers of systemic racism.

Museum Curator, Suzanne Moase states, “These two exhibitions shed a light on where we have been and where we need to go. Black history is a part of our shared past, we must reflect on and understand.  With this understanding comes a perspective on why the Justice 4 Black Lives and other movements started up in 2020 and may be seen as a defining moment of our time.”
