Zoom App

Hola Coronation Members. As we endeavour to move towards social distancing programming, this ultimately involves technology whether we like it or not. You have probably seen that we talk about the 'Zoom' app to deliver our new types of programs. For some, the mind may boggle and perhaps you decide it's just easier to delete the info.
I would be upset if members were to miss out on some great programming opportunities because they didn't understand, or, are afraid of using the suggested delivery of computer application. Fear not! We are here to help.

What exactly is Zoom?
Zoom is a live-streaming video conferencing tool that we use to conduct our virtual meetings/programs. You'll need the free Zoom app to attend a meeting. Follow these steps to download Zoom on your smartphone or desktop.

1. To download the app on your smartphone or tablet, go to the App store on ios or Google play in Android and search for "Zoom". Then, download the "Zoom Cloud Meetings" app.

2. To download the app on your desktop, go to and select the button "Sign up, it's free". Once you sign up using your email address, you will fill out your information. Then, you will proceed to download the Zoom app on your desktop using the Zoom Installer.

3. If you don't wish to use the video conferencing feature for the meetings, you can call in (standard rates apply). Then, input the access code to join the meeting. The phone number will be emailed to you.

Joining a live meeting via smartphone or tablet:

  • The live meeting link will be emailed to you
  • Shortly before the meeting is about to start, tap on the link and you'll be directed to your Zoom app.
  • Type your name and tap "Continue"
  • Allow access to your microphone and camera (optional) and use internet audio
Joining a live meeting via desktop:
  • Go to
  • Open the top bar, click "Join a Meeting"
  • In the box that reads "Meeting ID or Personal Link Name", enter the meeting ID number (this will be emailed to you)
  • When you join, select "Join with Computer Audio". Then, to turn on your camera, click "Start Video".
Joining a live meeting via phone:
  • Call in using the number provided (local rates apply)
  • Dial the access code
NOTE: The Zoom link will be active 10 minutes prior to each meeting start time (if you click the link when a meeting isn't taking place, you won't see anything).
It's recommended you join 10 minutes early to ensure you don't have any technical difficulties. If you do, here's how to troubleshoot

For those who need more of a visual tutorial, there is a youtube video link below which explains how to join a Zoom meeting in a simplistic form.

If you still need a little more clarification and one-on-one help, we have a terrific member, Francine Sullivan who has knowledge of Zoom. Francine is offering her help on how to use Zoom if you have the following devices: Apple/ Mac /iPad/ iPhone. Please email me at and I will gladly put you in touch with Francine.

We had a lot of fun on Thursday with our 'Chit Chat and Trivia' which was delivered through Zoom, and, starting next week, we are introducing Virtual Bingo on Mondays and Wednesdays via Zoom.

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Remember folks...we are one day closer.

All the Best to you,
Stay Home and Stay Safe
