Indigenous Concert Series with Nigel Irwin. Friday Dec 14, 7pm. Victoria Ave Library. No registration required/seating is limited. Presented in partnership with Niagara Concerts.
Nigel Irwin is a singer-songwriter of the Cree Nation who grew up in Niagara. He has been releasing music since 2015. Irwin discovered his craft playing in the Toronto open-mic scene and has since left his folky beginnings for larger pop ambitions. With his recent single ‘Reconcile’, Irwin has found a way to bring his Cree heritage into his lyrics, singing about his struggles with being mixed-native in an age of reconciliation. The Irwin Songbook is an ever-growing collection of tunes with sounds ranging from jazz to electronic, low-fi hip-hop to sixties rock. Nothing is off the table.
Presented in partnership with Niagara Concerts.

ROAD TO FREEDOM AND THE CIVIL WAR
While everyone featured in this exhibition has now gone, Ainslie’s powerful images memorialize the heroic people who passed through these places and tell important stories of the events that happened there.
Using his own self-designed and self-built cameras his imagery straddles the fine line between purely documentary and fine art, as they capture not only the sites themselves, but also fragments of their aura and a sense of the people whose energies occupied them.
n this exhibition, documentary pinhole photographer Tod Ainslie records sites associated with the Underground Railroad and the Civil War.  Ainslie’s distant family relationship through marriage to the famous abolitionist John Brown drew him to create the thirty-five black and white photographs featured in this exhibition.

NIAGARA FALLS CEMETERY TOURS
Cemetery Tours, organized by the Niagara Falls History Museum, had another successful year in 2018. 15 volunteer actors and 14 other volunteers hosted 10 performances across two weekends in October. The shows took visitors on a night-time walk through the Drummondville Cemetery, and brought guests face-to-face with the people who are buried there. The tour is more “local history” than “spooky Halloween” themed, but is both entertaining and informative for the history buff and the dramatic arts enthusiasts alike. All 10 shows were entirely sold out, so call the Museum in September of 2019 to get your tickets!
