City of Niagara Falls Employees at a Habitat for Humanity build
City Employees Help with Habitat for Humanity Build
On July 15, 2019, City of Niagara Falls Employees lent a helping hand to build a two-unit semi-detached house on Bellevue Street in Niagara Falls with Habitat for Humanity. Community support helps transform the lives of families across Niagara by making their dream of home ownership a reality. Over the past 26 years, Habitat Niagara has served 71 families, including 258 children. By the end of 2019, the charity expects to complete construction on its 65th home in Niagara. To learn more about Habitat for Humanity, visit habitatniagara.ca
Baden Powell Park trail
Baden Powell Park Closing Until 2022
Baden Powell Park, located at 9240 Montrose Road, will be closing on August 12, 2019 to allow for the replacement of the QEW Welland River Bridge by the Ministry of Transportation.  The construction is expected to conclude by 2022. During this time frame, Baden Powell Park will be closed and inaccessible to the public.

New Wheat Paste Art Installations Launching Across the City
Temporary Wheat Paste Installations are launching across the City today, Thursday, August 8, 2019. Artwork by 10 different artists, is prominently featured on 11 separate sites across the City, supporting the vibrancy of the locations and beautifying the streetscape. 

The 11 locations of the Wheat Paste Art Installations are:
  • Niagara Military Museum/ Armoury, 5049 Victoria Ave
  • Canadian Specialty Castings, 4248 Broughton Ave
  • Chippawa Town Hall, 8198 Cummington Sq E
  • Firehall Theatre, 4990 Walnut St
  • Heart Niagara, 4635b Queen St
  • Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsviwew- Backside of Hotel on Stanley Avenue, 6361 Fallsview Blvd

WRAP Applications Now Available Online
Niagara Falls residents can now apply for the Weeping-tile Removal Assistance Program (WRAP) directly online through a new portal on the City's website.  The application is quick and simple to fill out, and is sent directly to City staff for review.

The purpose of the WRAP program is to disconnect weeping-tile from the sanitary sewer to reduce basement flooding, among other benefits.

Now Recruiting: Volunteer Firefighters
The City of Niagara Falls Fire Department is now recruiting Volunteer Firefighters. Interested applicants must reside within the basic volunteer catchment area, be 18 years of age or older and have a valid G license. Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to attend an Information Session being held on Thursday, September 5, 2019, 7 pm to 8:30 pm at Station 6 (8037 Schisler Road). The deadline to apply for the Volunteer Firefighter positions is Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 4:30 pm.

Senior Water/Property Tax Credit Program
A $100 water credit and/or a $40 property tax credit are now available to seniors who qualify. Applications opened on August 1, 2019 and will be received until October 31, 2019.

Sink your teeth into a sweet juicy local peach. Niagara Falls Farmers' Market presents our Second Annual PEACH PARTY, Saturday, August 17th, 7 am-1 pm. 

Peaches are a wonderful Niagara product and we want to celebrate the work that our farmers put into the ground to ensure that we get the fruits of their labour. Come join us for this festive day, buy some great produce, have some fun and thank your local farmer. 

Project SHARE will be at the market offering a peach-y treat by donation.

A reminder that the installment due dates for 2019 final levy for commercial, industrial and multi-residential only are August 30, 2019 and October 31, 2019. Montrose Road Closures
Detours are in place during construction on Montrose Road. Construction is expected to last until September 27, 2019, weather permitting. Businesses and residents will have access during the closure but may be directed to take an alternate route to get to their destination. Businesses will remain open at all times. Paid Parking Returns to Queen Street
On August 6, 2019, paid parking was reinstated on Queen Street, Downtown Niagara Falls. Free 90 minute parking zones will remain in place on adjacent side streets. For more information, visit niagarafalls.ca/parking
