Spend Family Day exploring biodiversity and habitat conservation @ the Museum! Join the Earth Rangers for live animal shows at: 11am, 1pm, 2pm, & 3pm. This unique and up-close encounter with their animal ambassadors will leave you educated and inspired to help protect animals in the wild. Sponsored by Ontario Power Generation.
Other activities include scavenger hunts, crafts, FREE family portraits and three galleries full of artefacts that explore our local history!

There is always something going on Thursday Nights

The Niagara Falls History Museum is open until 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays and provides free access to the galleries and a variety of programmes for all ages.  This month’s programmes include:

February 7
A Railway History of Niagara-on-the-Lake @ 7pm
Picture of a railway line
Peter Mulcaster, P. Eng, explores the beginnings of Niagara-on-the-Lake railways dating back to 1854 and the resulting economic and strategic benefits they had for travel, tourism, industry, agriculture, and the military. This talk will feature period maps and many black and white photographs. A stimulating night for local history enthusiasts and rail historians alike!

The Stories Were Not Told: Canada’s WWI Internment Camps @ 7pm

Award-winning author and photographer Sandra Semchuk visits the NFHM to share stories from her new book, The Stories Were Not Told: Canada’s WWI Internment Camps. Sandra will share little-known stories about a remorseful period of Canadian history, including how her research for this book took her to Niagara Falls. Sandra is excited to meet and discuss history with like-minded people at the Museum.

Also on Thursday nights, when you visit the Museum, you might run across one of our new crew of volunteers. These individuals have worked with us on coming up with a new perspective on looking at our history. There will be new people out each week, so make it a habit of stopping by.

Museum membership is inexpensive and an affordable way to find out about our community. Your membership gets you free admission to the Museum and current edition of our publication “Circa”, which is filled with great articles on local history. Past editions are also available for sale in our Gift Shop.

Educational Programs

The Museum has released the 2019 educational program offerings for teachers. There are a few new programs that fit the Ontario Curriculum as well as Museum and Battlefield tours.

We are also excited to be working with Niagara Falls Transit on offering free bus transportation to elementary school children.
