What's Happening Around the Main Street District

A New Restaurant with Rooftop Seating is Coming to 1649 Main Street!

Hendrix will be a chef-driven restaurant opening in the upper floors of the former Hennessy's building at the corner of Main and Blanding streets, according to a news release. The historic building has been undergoing renovations by the Garvin Design Group since early 2017, with Scott Garvin returning the façade to what it looked like in 1941.

Set to open later this year, Hendrix will offer dinner, Saturday and Sunday brunch, and bar hours just in time for the 2018 football season.

The City of Columbia and Richland County Want Your Input on the Proposed Road Diet Plans to Accommodate Bike Lanes

Before work gets underway, City and County representatives wish to receive input from residents and businesses located on Calhoun Street from Wayne Street to Harden Street and Hampton Street from Main Street to Harden Street.

The proposed improvements would reduce four lane sections of the road (two travel lanes each way) down to three lane sections (one travel lane each way and a center turn lane).  The improvements would also remove parking on the north side of Calhoun from Lincoln to Sumter and the north side of Hampton from Main to Harden to allow adequate space for the bike lanes.
