A groundbreaking celebration was recently held for a new student housing facility in Columbia. The Standard, a 17-story student housing space, will be located at 1401 Assembly Street beside Richland Library's main branch.  CRG Integrated Real Estate Solutions and Landmark Properties are the pioneers of the $82 million project in the heart of Columbia.

South Carolina Philharmonic Celebrates Move to 1704 Main Street

The South Carolina Philharmonic is celebrating the organization’s recent move to Main Street and will open the space to the public on Thursday, October 7 in concert with the popular First Thursday on Main at its open house event from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Guests will be invited to explore the new offices, marvel at the extensive music library, partake in light food and drink, meet the staff, and enjoy live music on the street. Admission is free and masks are required for entry.

Takosushi Scheduled to Open this Fall in the Arcade

Georgia-based Takosushi, a southwest and Asian fusion restaurant, will open its new location in Columbia at The Arcade at 1332 Main Street. The restaurant will occupy 2,533 square feet and is set to open later this fall.  The restaurant features an eclectic menu focused on high-quality ingredients, including sushi, potstickers, nachos, quesadillas, soups, and salads. Takosushi has additional locations in Aiken and Greenville.

To keep Columbia and the surrounding areas safe, Soda City is working in accordance with the recently approved 30-day mask mandate protecting Columbia, West Columbia, and Cayce. Observing the mask ordinance, getting vaccinated, and heeding CDC guidelines helps keep Soda City open every Saturday.

Soda City has a vaccination distribution tent as well as free masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, and offers touch-free temperature readings at the merchandise tent.

Famously Hot SC Pride Festival Returns to Main Street

Join us again on Main Street for this free festival.  Here you can catch food and beverage vendors, community resources, and performances by nationally recognized acts like Vanilla Ice, Sweet Sensation, and the Neon Queen.
If you’re going to the festival with the kiddos, look out for the Family Pride Area at Main & Washington Streets, where you’ll find the Richland Library bus. The Family Pride Area is provided by a partnership with the Harriet Hancock Center Foundation. Head to this alcohol-free zone to hang with other families and give the kids a chance to meet new friends. Back again by popular demand, Drag Story Time starts at 1:00 pm and showcases favorite children’s books and read aloud, along with a drag performer showcasing artistic expression during the reading.

Who is City Center Partnership and the BID?
In 2001, City Center Partnership was formed to manage the downtown Business Improvement District in the 36-block area bounded by Gervais, Elmwood, Assembly and Marion streets in Columbia, SC. The organization provides public space management, economic development, place management, marketing services, and public advocacy for the Main Street District.
The Board of Directors oversee the organization’s mission — to focus on filling vacancies in commercial properties, retaining existing downtown businesses and recruiting new ones, expanding the downtown residential base, and creating a safe, clean, and friendly downtown environment.
