Where the world meets to discuss, plan, reflect, collaborate, innovate and celebrate openness in education.

Year of Open officially launches January 17!  Check out the website for events and opportunities to participate.  

Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) turns 15 years old this February. In preparation for this significant anniversary, a survey has been released seeking input to help shape the future strategy of the Open Access movement.  This survey is an important opportunity to make the voice of the next generation of researchers, librarians, advocates, and professionals heard. Please take a moment to participate. The survey closes January 20th.

The Open Education Global Conference 2017 is organized jointly by the Open Education Consortium and the University of Cape Town.

Nominations for Board of Directors is open.  If you are interested or want to nominate someone to serve as a board member, contact Mary Lou Forward, Executive Director, at mlforward@oeconsortium.org.   Nominations take place between December 5, 2016 and January 17, 2017. New board members will be officially seated at the Open Education Global Meeting in March 2017 in Cape Town, South Africa. 
All spring CCCOER webinars are broadcast on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at (10am PT/ 1pm ET) with the exception of March webinars held during Open Education Week 2017 (March 27-31).  Check out the dates for the spring webinars!  

Open Education Week is getting close!  Call for participation is open until February 28th, 2017.  Don't miss the opportunity to be a part of this one-week event.

South Florida State College: Wins Chancellor’s Award for Open Educational Resources (OER) SFSCopen focuses on promoting the use of OER textbooks both with within and beyond campus boundaries and SFSC hopes to inspire other FCS colleges to join in and help reduce the cost of higher education for their students.  

Prominent Funding Organizations Team Up to Launch Open Research Funders Group  Eight highly-visible organizations  announced on December 16 the launch of the Open Research Funders Group, a partnership designed to increase access to research outputs.
