Athens Indie Craftstravaganza
Saturday, May 7
Katie Gonzalez makes books, prints, and fabric goods in Waynesboro, Virginia where she lives with her husband and her bullmastiff. Making books since 2006, Katie created linenlaid&felt in the spring of 2010 to bring her work to a broader audience. Follow her projects at her blog, become a fan on Facebook, and shop on Etsy.
Spring has brought alternating bursts of sunshine and rain to Virginia. But one thing is certain: Art show season is about to begin. I'm excited to announce I'll soon be making my first appearances at two new shows.
To get ready, I've been taking over every square inch of the house. You can see me working in the dining room above.
For the first show of the season, on April 23, I'll be one of 50 artists at The Handmade Market inside Cobblestone Hall in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. The one-day show starts at 11 a.m.
Just two weeks later, I'll make my way to the Indie Craftstravaganza at the corner of Clayton and Pulaski streets in Athens, Georgia. This one-day show in a college town I know so well (Go Dawgs!) runs noon to 7 on May 7. Expect fine art, eco-chic fashions and sustainable goods.
Brand new in my shop are these bright leather journals, inspired by the colors of spring after a winter season that was simply too long and too cold! Journals in this new line are pocket-sized and exceptionally soft. Each has a unique combination of papers for inside pages. Shop for these books here.
The Chicago Connection
I'm extremely happy to talk about a new relationship with Orange Beautiful, a letterpress studio and store in Chicago. I met Emily through Etsy and was lucky enough to see her incredibly cute storefront on a recent trip. A few of my books are now for sale in her shop, along with lots of items by other Etsy sellers.
It's so great to see all those paper goods in a hip little store. You can find books, letterpress cards, stationery and some fabric goods at Orange Beautiful at 4658 N. Damen Ave. There's easy parking and access to an L stop and other cool antique and vintage stores on the same block.
