Dear  <<First Name>>,

I would normally start by saying ‘Happy New Year’, but at the moment in some parts of Australia we are experiencing the worst floods in nearly 4 decades and it has been devastating and heart breaking for many of our family and friends. Our thoughts are with everyone going through this terrible time.

Premiers Flood Relief AppealHere at Country Bumpkin we are far too south to be affected, but appreciate your emails of concern. Many of you have also written to ask how you can help. Click the image to the right for a direct link to the official donation page for the Queensland Government Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.

There have also been many enquiries from our generous stitching community wanting to donate stitching items to those affected. I am sure it will be a little while before this sort of thing can be distributed, but we would love to be a collection point for these items. If you have new, unused items that you would like to donate, we will contact the Guilds in the affected areas and they can distribute items.

If you have been directly affected by the floods, or know someone who has, please contact us when you can or feel ready and we will help in any way we can.

Upcoming Stories

Inspirations issue 70 will feature the inspirational story of Robyn Hanstock who has recently graduated with her Doctor of Philosophy Degree.

Her thesis is called Learning Journeys in Women's Organisations: Adult education outside conventional settings.

It includes stories of women who have had life-changing learning experiences through their membership of organisations like the Embroiderers' Guild, the Quilters' Guild in New South Wales and several others.

Robyn was surprised to find that many women she interviewed about their needlework spoke of finding whole new directions in their lives through the learning they achieved from belonging to a women's organisation.

We would love to hear from readers who have completed a doctorate or a postgraduate research degree that relates to needlework. Please contact Margie at margie@countrybumpkin.com.au.
