A Note from Pastor based on Psalm 128

Yesterday marked the year anniversary of my brother-in-law's passing at 45 years old. For me, it was a day to reflect on a year ago, and life in general and look to the future. Psalm 128 is a powerful reminder of what it is to build a life, a family, even a community or nation, that is happy and blessed. The Word God shares with us has with it the ability and goal of granting such happiness and blessedness through faith in God and trust in all his words. It is the spring that fills the well, the source that leads to rivers and lakes, root that leads to abundant fruit. So it is with any single one of us who fears the Lord and his Word. God blesses you with wonderful spiritual gifts and life that may cause a ripple effect upon the family and the godly family upon its neighbors and so on.

We see this all up close in the life of a believer and especially when God takes them home: the lives they touched, the blessing of their possession of peace with God and its influence that moved in them and through them. I remember what it was like to be in that receiving line during the visitation - wave after wave of families - and wave after wave of thanksgiving.

This psalm is about all of the above, from the Lord to the individual believer and to the Christian home and to Christian friendship and community and so forth.

It all starts with the spring and source of God's peace. It's real and it's yours. Begin there and root yourself there. And not only will you be blessed but you will give thanks to be a part of a ripple effect that in the end finds its place back in the lap of God for all eternity: "Well done, good and faithful servant." God keep us and grant us such a life and life forever!

Who's ready? Over the final three weeks of the church year, we get to prepare ourselves for today and for the Last Day, the harvest day of the Lord. Each Sunday (November 8, 15, and 22) features a section from Matthew 25 to shape our lives to be watchful, faithful and hopeful in keeping with the fact that our Jesus is coming again to take us home!

THE RULES HAVE CHANGED!

New mandates that apply to houses of worship for Jefferson County allow us to gather at 25% of capacity in our space, which is about 35 people in our case. For the time being, our schedule remains as is, since most Sundays we are within the 35 number each service.

Please do what you are comfortable with as far as attending in-person or worshiping from home. And, of course, if you are not feeling well, please join us online at 10am on Facebook or YouTube!

Remember in Prayer...

Barbara Bisceglia - Resident of Balfour and member of Living Savior - Barbara continues to heal at a new Balfour location that can meet her medical needs.
Bob Hutchison - Resident of Balfour and member of Living Savior - Aubin, Bob's wife, has won her race and wears her crown of victory. Aubin passed earlier this month. Pray for Bob and the family, as they mourn her earthly absence, but rejoice in her victory in Christ!
Peterson Family (Brandon, Melissa, Dylan and Blake)- Brandon has been deployed with the Navy. Please pray for their family, as they are going through a lot of transitions.
Pam Griffin - (Morning Westerberg's mother) - Battling cancer. Pray that the Lord might open her heart that she might see the light of God's love in Jesus.
Merlin Camrud - Experiencing significant pain and challenges related to his physical health. If you know Merlin, say a prayer, give him a call, and give thanks to God for preserving his life through so much adversity the last few months!
Susan Bondow - (Pastor's mother) - Ongoing treatment for leukemia expected to end in 2021. The treatments have been working wonderfully thus far. Still a long road ahead, but feeling beyond blessed!

Don't forget to pray for the work we are able to do together as part of the WELS (Wisconsin Ev. Lutheran Synod). Here is a suggestion:

Mt. Lebanon, Milwaukee, Wis. – Lord, during this time of unrest and uncertainty, we ask you to be with congregations and missions in the cities of our country. We pray for Mt. Lebanon in Milwaukee. Guide the mission work they carry out especially through their school. Bless them as they strive to be for their community a community of love and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Amen.
