You may have recently received a letter from BST updating you on recent news and asking you to help us develop the next generation of ministry leaders. If you recently made a gift, thank you! We couldn’t do it without your help. If you did receive that letter and haven’t given yet, please consider this a small reminder to think about supporting us, otherwise, read on to hear more about what is going on at BST.

Greetings and Thank You from BST!

Greetings from Berkeley School of Theology (BST), where we are experiencing the sunshine, warmth, and dappled shade under our several redwood clusters here on campus. But most of all, I am gladdened by the resilience of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends. This past year, despite an unprecedented pandemic, you helped us live fully into our theme for the year: “BST All Things New!” We could not have done it without you.

Your generosity matters, student by student

Recent DMin graduate Dr. Hakizimana Appolinaire has just returned to his native Rwanda to work under the Bishop of the Rwandan Anglican church. He will work to establish the "East African Community Healing Center” in Kigali, an organization to work with post-genocidal trauma treatment. BST has a strong ongoing mutual relationship with the churches of Rwanda. Your generous giving helps support students like Appollo who are making an amazing impact all over the world.

New name, new programs

It has been nearly a year since we unveiled our new name, Berkeley School of Theology, and in that time we’ve also revised our curriculum to meet the needs of today’s students. One of the newly relaunched programs is our culturally-responsive competency-based Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program. Doctoral students customize their studies around thematic categories:

  • Anti-Racism/Prison Renewal/Reparations

  • Greening the Church/Creation Care

  • Pastoral Care for Immigrant Churches

  • Preaching Social Justice

  • Spiritual Formation (in Korean)

  • Ministerial Training for Latino Churches (in Spanish)

  • The Womanist/Feminist Gospel

Please share this link with anyone you think is interested in finding out more about this fast-track doctoral degree: https://go.bst.edu/programs/dmin/. I’m excited to say that we’re experiencing a record number of new student inquiries for all of our programs!

Your gifts make an impact!

As we look back at the end of this school year, despite it being a most unusual year, it has made us appreciate even more all the new things we were able to accomplish, thanks to the generosity of donors like you. Thank you again for participating in our mission and generously supporting our students.

Your fiscal year-end gifts to BST continue to transform student lives and gives us the exponential capacity to multiply those gifts for good all across the globe. Today, I invite you to consider a meaningful gift to support students like Appollo through the Seminary Fund.

Be well, stay connected, and re-emerge safely and joyfully,
