A Meditative State

People ask me sometimes about meditative states. Or more accurately, what leads to meditative states. Well, this week's post will answer that question for you! So read more to learn about meditative states and how they come about!
:: What Leads to Meditative States ::
Focused states that lead us to alpha brain wave patterns heighten our creative intuition and relaxed states. This can be easy to learn, and you can also choose to practice it over time to get even better at it. One easy way to get there is by meditation which leads to a trance state.
Meditation is simply the act of focusing your
attention on one thing for a period of time.

It doesn't have to be mysterious. It is a natural state of calm, focused awareness that you can use towards a beneficial goal. Many scientists have studied meditation over the years to determine the ‘active ingredients’ for how it works. Herbert Benson, M.D. of the Mind/Body Medical Institute has studied meditators of various backgrounds. He found that anyone can achieve this focused, alpha state by meditating, regardless of their background, religion, or belief system. Meditation has been shown to have lasting health effects as well, and can foster a sense of well-being. Learning this tool will not only help you reach your work goal, but you’ll get those great additional benefits.
:: Meditative States Can Be Simple ::
I have a very simple exercise I give my clients to help them easily access a meditative state. There are essentially two steps:
  1. Repeated focus on a word, sound, phrase, or object. Or, you can simply choose to focus on your breath.
  2. Gently release everyday thoughts that cross your mind and continue focusing on the word, sound, phrase, or breath.
After you've practiced that for a while, add a third step that might help you solve a problem... Ask your creative unconscious for a new solution. See/hear/feel what arises. 

Then keep practicing.
