Water Integrity Global Outlook
The Water Integrity Global Outlook 2016 (WIGO) publication, released on World Water Day 2016, shows how clean governance in the water sector can fight corruption, benefit diverse stakeholders and make efficient use of investment in water services and infrastructure worldwide. WIGO highlights how institutional fragmentation and corruption undermine resources and services. It demonstrates how integrity and good governance have become international and national priorities and outlines tools and techniques that make improvements achievable. It makes recommendations for action by governments, sector actors, the private sector and civil society bodies.
The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the Water Integrity Network (WIN), the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) launches the report in Stockholm on 7 June. Learn more about the event here.

Uganda establishes Action Plan to achieve human right to water and sanitation for all
To support the Ugandan government to gain a better understanding of the main challenges to fulfilling the Human Rights to Water and Sanitation (HRWS) in Uganda, WGF took part in the mapping of the legal and policy framework and the implementation and monitoring of the framework.
In a sector inclusive workshop representatives from the Ugandan Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE), civil society and other ministries and Uganda’s Human Rights Commission established an Action Plan based on recommendations derived from the mapping. Overseen by the MWE working group the Action Plan and recommendations will serve to spur progress and ensure that it reaches the most vulnerable and unserved groups of the population. Making sure that WASH project benefits actually last
To ensure that sustainability is embedded from the start in its WASH programming, UNICEF has developed an innovative implementation and monitoring framework for sustainability. WGF was invited to conduct an analysis of this sustainability framework within the Dutch-financed water and sanitation programme implemented in nine West and Central African countries. WGF reviewed a series of Sustainability Compacts and the first Sustainability Checks ever conducted in the region.
The conclusions of the report were shared with UNICEF regional and Headquarter representatives during a review of the programme held in the Côte d´Ivoire’s capital Abidjan in April 2016. Learn more about it here.
