Hello from VanGoYourself!

We hope you're all having an excellent festive season. It's been six months since we launched VanGoYourself and we have been overwhelmed by all the clever, creative and downright hilarious recreations that people like you have submitted.

Thanks to your efforts we've built up a fantastic selection of recreations of all kinds of paintings, the best of which we have curated into the VanGo'd gallery.

How about
this Madonna and Child by Ambrogio Borgognone which has been VanGo'd by Johanne and Davide. Why not try it yourself and create a new kind of nativity scene this Christmas?

Oedipus and the Sphinx by Gustave Moreau (1826-1898)

We love this painting on the VanGoYourself website by French Symbolist painter Gustave Moreau. It depicts a scene from Greek mythology, where the Sphinx asks the tragic King Oedipus (yes, he of the complex) a riddle. Those who cannot answer the riddle will be killed and eaten. Luckily Oedipus knows the answer. It's a shame that not everything in his life went so well...

The VanGoYourself Tumblr has some really crazy things...

We have no idea who the guy on the right is, why he's dressed like that or where and when he's from. All we know is he made us laugh! We'd love to know more - get in touch if you can help.

Even the celebrities are at it! A new art project by Sandro Miller sees John Malkovich recreating scenes from photographic history, including Warhol's Marilyn Monroe series. Read more at artnetnews.com

We'll be in touch again soon, but in the meantime make sure you're following us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date - we'll be adding more paintings soon!
