June 2022

"My name is Ella Josefine Jasso. My pronouns are She/her/her's.

And I am a Trans and Gender Non-conforming Surgical Health Navigator

I decided to join ORC because I feel that it’s important to create space for all those who have paved the way and to those who will be the change of today.

I come from a big Mexican family and because of that, I understand the importance of getting support and creating a space to live, grow, and manifest our dreams.

Today, thanks to support from family, affirming health care, and friends, I am living my dream and pouring into our community.

I am so happy to be a part of this amazing project that will house so many of our loved community."

Ella made the journey from our Comms team to the ORC Board, and we are so grateful to have her on the team.

Stay tuned: Each upcoming newsletter will feature a new board member, and they all have a unique story to share.

About One Roof Chicago

One Roof Chicago is an emerging initiative to build an LGBTQ+-centered intergenerational community for older adults and young people most in need of affirming housing, meaningful connection, and career development. This project is the first of its kind nationwide and the fact that it’s happening here, in our home of Chicago, is a huge source of excitement and pride. As we build together, we do so informed by frameworks of Black Liberation, Harm Reduction, Healing Justice, Restorative Justice, Housing First, Positive Youth Development, and Trauma-Informed Care. We lead with intentional relationships, thoughtful practices, and community collaboration.
