Like APFA Hotline - 15th Anniversary of 9/11 - We Will Never Forget on Facebook  share on Twitter

Today marks the 15th Anniversary of 9/11, when 2,996 people, including thirty-three members of our airline family, perished in the worst act of terrorism ever to take place on American soil.

APFA was honored to pay tribute to the victims during Aviation Week at the 911 Memorial & Museum in New York.

The heart wrenching exhibits displayed there are not easy to witness. They re-open wounds that will never fully heal and they serve as harsh reminders of a world that was forever changed by one single day in history – a day that soberly reminds us that life is precious and should never be taken for granted.

Like all tragic moments in history, 9/11 is one of those rare events where we can all remember where we were at the exact moment when tragedy struck. Some of us were in the air; some of us were at home or on layovers around the globe watching the horror play out on television; while others displayed heroic acts of bravery in those final moments and would never return to tell their stories.

The names and faces that follow point to our responsibility as safety professionals and first responders despite the risks that come with our profession. Each one is a reflection of the many heroic acts that will forever overshadow the terror of that fateful day.

We honor their memory and we will never forget.
