July Podcast Playlist: MONEY

It’s been called bacon, benjamins, cheddar, coin, dinero, dough, moolah, scratch and slug… but we all know it best as money. Since its first appearance in ancient civilizations, money has built the foundations for our societies and cultures; driving prosperity in some realms of the world, and destitution in others. It decides what we do, where we go, and how we get there.  More than just a clanking noise in our pockets and purses, money often shapes who we become and the legacies we leave behind.  And if mismanaged, can leave us in dire situations.  So how can we position ourselves to be prosperous and keep up with the everchanging landscape of modern finance?  To start… by learning more about it.
This month, Maddie (of the Chicago chapter) put together a podcast playlist on Money that includes episodes from Planet Money, Town Hall Seattle Science Series, Bad With Money, and WSJ The Future of Everything. As usual, we also included conversation starters and a musical playlist from our very own DJ RuggedAngel!

Podcast Brunch Club podcast

Check out the episodes we've put out since the last newsletter. One covers that theme of Common Ground that we did in May and the rest are along the lines of our June theme of Emotion.  We were lucky enough to get interviews with all three podcast creators and have posted 2 of those interviews, along with our roundup podcast episode for the month.

Please subscribe to the Podcast Brunch Club podcast - it's a great way to dive deeper into each month's theme and get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the featured podcasts!
  • Esther Armah, creator of The Spin - Adela interviews Esther Armah, who is the creator behind The Spin, an episode of which we featured on the Common Ground podcast playlist in May. The podcast episode featured was entitled, “Fashion Forum Africa Part 2.”
  • Matt Bodnar, creator of the Science of Success - Adela interviews Matt Bodnar. We featured an episode of Science of Success on June's Emotion podcast playlist. The episode featured was entitled, “How To Master Emotional Intelligence & Why Your IQ Won’t Make You Successful with Dr. Daniel Goleman.”
  • Hilary Jacobs Hendel, author of It’s Not Always Depression - Sara chats with Hilary, who was the guest on one of the podcasts we listened to as part of the podcast playlist on Emotions. The episode was the Parenting Teens podcast episode entitled “37: Hilary Jacobs Hendel – It’s Not Always Depression.”
  • Emotion Playlist Roundup - Hear the feedback on the episodes from the Emotion podcast playlist. Then, in the “What We’re Listening To” segment, Sara and Adela each offer two podcast recommendations each: one independent podcast and one from a network.
