Where did this month go?

Announcing the WA Teddy Bear Challenges 2016...

It's on again this year - The WA Teddy Bear Challenges!!  The famous Brigit Charles of Brigit's Bears has kindly designed the pattern for this year's Pattern Challenge - that's "Victor" in the photo above - a gorgeous bear about 40cm tall.  You may shrink or enlarge the Pattern, or make it in the original size, but are NOT allowed to alter the Pattern in any other way.  You may make the be Pattern in whatever fabric(s) you wish.  What will you choose to make your entry??

The Mohair Challenge is on again, too.  This year it is a lovely 25mm medium dense pile, with the fur a different colour from the backing.  You may "boil it, bake it, dye it, shave it ... or leave it in it's original state" and make whatever animal you wish - be inspired!

Both the Pattern and the Mohair are now available at The Teddy Tree, so why not get an early start on your Challenge entries for this year?  All of the entries will be displayed at the WA Craft Show at Claremont Showgrounds in August.

Make sure to Like and Follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with all our news & products.  Thank you for helping us reach over 700 Likes, looking forward to the next benchmark!  We will be giving away another bear when we reach 1000!

Saturday March 26, 1.00pm - 3.00pm

Bookings preferred (to make sure we can cater for you all!) Any time you can spare us between these hours would be appreciated.
Cost:  Your time and skills only, but any donations of fabric and quilting supplies gratefully accepted.

Crochet for a Cause (or Knit to Do your Bit)

Last year we donated 25 crocheted granny square rugs to a Dialysis Clinic - our target for this year ... as many as possible!  Come and join us for a happy session of easy crochet to make up some granny squares for our next batch of rugs.  Any time you can spare us will be appreciated.  Don't worry if you can't crochet - we will be happy to teach you for free (but we will keep the granny square you make!!)

Saturday March 12, 1.00pm - 3.00pm

Bookings preferred (to make sure we can cater for you all!) Any time you can spare us between these hours would be appreciated.

Bearmakers' Retreat Weekend, Toodyay

The first Bearmakers Retreat Weekend for the year was a huge success - a great big thank you to everyone who came along and joined in with the fun.  Apart from all the laughs we had, over $1000.00 was raised and donated to Free the Bears Fund.  Avalon Homestead, Toodyay, once again amazed us all with their hospitality - and the new Gold Room was fantastic!

The next Retreat is almost full, so make sure you pay your deposits promptly to secure your spot.  The next retreat runs from 3pm Friday 1 July to 2pm Sunday 3 July (with an option to stay until Monday 4 July).

Join us for some fresh country air and lots of fun and laughter.  It's a wonderful opportunity to make a head start on those UFO's that you have stashed away, start a new project or just catch up with your craft-loving friends.  Cost includes twin share accommodation and meals from Friday evening through to Sunday lunch. You can either book over the phone or in person.

Cost: $290.00 (includes meals and accommodation)
