As many of you have already seen in the news, the social distancing parameters have been narrowed. Restaurant dining rooms have been closed for thirty days, theaters and the zoo are closed, Starbucks dining rooms are closed, and the governor is discouraging gatherings of more than fifty from taking place. This will have bearing on the decisions our team makes this week.
Please don’t listen to all of the senseless chatter or buy into the spirit of fear. This is not an attack against our religious liberty. This is an unprecedented action not targeting any specific group, but affecting public schools, professional sports, the food industry, etc.
I will communicate our plan with you later this week, but our response team is working through the new recommendations and our appropriate response. Please pray for us.
For now, I want to assure you that you are not alone, not isolated, and not forgotten. You have a team of shepherd-leaders, deacons, and a church family ready to care for you. We are a reflection of the faithful and never-failing love that God has for you.
Please don’t hesitate to email or call one of your pastor-elders if you are in need or sense you are deeply struggling through this season of uncertainty.
Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Resting in the sovereignty and kindness of God,
Pastor Steve Hafler
