The Greek Olympian Health and Wellness Program is Featured on the UA Home Page

For the past four years the Olympian Health and Wellness program has been funded by the Hunter White Foundation, a foundation that was created in memory of Phi Gamma Delta member Hunter White, who was killed during a spring break accident.  The Olympian program has allowed Greek students to learn about current health topics impacting their members through the Hunter White Health Advocacy program and the Hunter White Safe Spring Break program, which teaches students tips for staying safe over their spring break.

The Olympian program has had tremendous success with chapter members reporting increased knowledge in how to make referrals for their members when they are concerned for them. The program is unique to the University of Arizona as no other Greek community in the nation has an in- office program focused on health and wellness education that is this compressive. The community’s innovation in developing this program was recognized last summer when the University of Arizona decided to feature the health advocate program in a story on the UA Home Page. This feature was seen by thousands of prospective UA students and parents this summer when they reaching the University of Arizona home page. If you would like to read the featured story and view the video feature click here.
The Olympian program is crucial for providing safety information to our Greek Students.  If you would like to help in supporting this impactful program please consider making a donation. Your support for this program will help to strengthen the community.

The Interfraternity Council is proud to welcome Kappa Sigma and Sigma Phi Epsilon back to the University of Arizona Greek Community. Both of these fraternities have been part of the University of Arizona Greek Communities in the past however this is their first time participating in recruitment since they have recolonized. These two fraternities are quickly making their presence known on campus and are looking to become a driving force within the Greek Community. The Interfraternity Council at University of Arizona will help these chapters during their refounding so that they can become another part of the outstanding Greek Community on this campus.

Greek Alumni Outreach

Fraternity & Sorority programs recently launched a new Facebook page geared toward our UA Greek Alumni.  The UA Greek Alumni page is designed to give alumni a place to reconnect, to learn about the community since they have been gone and to network with other fraternity or sorority alumni.

If you would like to submit pictures, information on a chapter's history or event history please email dos-greek@email.arizona.edu to do so.  We would love help in continuing to provide a history of the Fraternity & Sorority community At The University of Arizona. If you or someone you know has accomplished great things since you left the UA, we want to know that too!  We feature Greek Alumni stories in our newsletter (here), honor Greek Alumni at Greek Awards in the Spring Semester and try to share stories through our new facebook pages and twitter.

Greek Organizations Take National, Regional Awards

by By La Monica Everett-Haynes, University Communications | September 21, 2012

University of Arizona fraternity and sorority members earned dozens of local, national and international awards this year. Johanne Ives, the UA assistant dean of students, said many of the approximately 4,000 Greek life members on campus and their chapters consistently earn awards for service, outreach, recruiting, philanthropy, academic excellence and financial management, among other accolades. Ives, who also directs the UA's Fraternity and Sorority Programs, said fraternities and sororities engage members in programming, both on and off campus.

Looking Back. Looking Forward. 100 Years

Looking Back. Looking Forward. 100 Years
Carol Thompson, Director, Student Affairs Outreach & Alumni Relations

We are all proud of the UA’s rich history and tradition. How can we not be? Whether it has been because of the accomplishments in the classroom or on the athletic field or achieved by one of our student organizations, departments or faculty, we all celebrate what the University of Arizona represents. It is that unique sense of pride of what it means to be a Wildcat that we collectively share.

The same rings true of what if means to be a member of our UA Greek community. Although we may have been members of different chapters, that collective sense of what we stand for of being greater than ourselves is what keeps us connected for a lifetime.  Since 1915 we have had thousands of men and women join our UA fraternities and sororities, all seeking friendships and opportunities. What all those who came before us have left is a legacy that is waiting to be celebrated and documented.

In 2015 we will be celebrating 100 years of having nationally chartered fraternities and sororities at the UA. We plan on having a one-of-a-kind centennial celebration that will allow all of us to honor our history and heritage and ensure that there will be another 100 years to come.

We are planning for this now and are looking for ideas and volunteers. If you have thoughts, ideas or questions or are interested in helping, please send an email to cdt@email.arizona.edu.
