Virtual Collection of Asian Masterpieces launches new website

Asia-Europe Museum Network 2013

Dear <<First Name>>,

We are happy to announce the newly branded Virtual Collection of Asian Masterpieces website. Not only does it support mobile users, it now hosts 2,200 Masterpieces from over 120 museums in Asia and Europe.

Another piece of good news in these hard times, is the additional funding secured by the Oriental Art Museum in Durham for its South Asian and Himalayan collections. This initiative will also encourage community engagement through public programmes.

Speaking of community engagement, in Singapore museum-visiting has increased with the abolishment of entrance fees for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents.

In Vienna, one of the founding members of ASEMUS, Steven Engelsman, has taken up the position of Director of the World Museum Vienna (Welt Museum Wien). Steven was previously Director of the National Ethnology Museum in Leiden. Watch this interview for his thoughts on his new job.

And finally if you have yet to visit Myanmar, we recommend the Bagan Archaeological Museum. It sits at the centre of Old Bagan and is easily accessible whether you are touring this ancient city by bicycle or horse-and-cart.

Enjoy this July newsletter and please recommend ASEMUS membership to your colleagues in Asia and Europe.

Yours Sincerely,

The Secretariat
