Dear members and allies of the BC Self Advocacy community,
On October 14th CLBC launched its annual WOW!clbc Awards. WOW stands for Widening our World. The Awards recognize people who have truly embraced inclusion, and helped individuals with developmental disabilities have a sense of community and belonging.
In keeping with the work of the Community Action Employment Plan, this year’s theme for the WOW!clbc Awards is Inclusive Employment.
Across the province, we are inviting everyone to nominate an employer who they think is helping to build workplaces where the adults CLBC serves feel welcome, valued and respected!
Nominations will take place from October 14th - November 30th, 2014. People receiving an award and the person who nominated them will be contacted in December 2014. Three awards will be given across the province during the months of January/February 2015. These winning nominees will receive a WOW!clbc Award at an event hosted in their honour in their community and attended by family, friends and the person who nominated them.
We ask that you help spread the word about these awards and highlight the great work that is being done by inclusive employers who are really making a difference in your community.
There are a number of ways you can get more information or nominate someone:
Recognition and celebration are important ways to raise community awareness about the importance of inclusion. Thank you for your help in spreading the word about this unique and important annual opportunity to recognize and celebrate inclusive employers in your community.
