I am honoured to be joining Community Living BC as its new CEO and excited about returning to BC. During the 18 years I worked at BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital and BCIT, I traveled throughout the province getting to know its regional and geographic diversity. It will be great to return to those places and to meet many of you over the coming months.
It is an exciting time to be joining the organization. Great strides have been taken in the last three years to improve the quality of CLBC services and supports, such as improvements to the Personalized Supports Initiative
, sector-wide collaboration for the Community Action Employment Plan
and implementation of programs, such as the $100,000 CLBC / BCGEU Scholarship Fund
. I look forward to continuing this work and to introducing innovative programs and services in collaboration with our community partners.
Before joining CLBC, I was the Vice Chair of Surrey Place Centre’s Board, a large provider of services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. I was also a Vice President for Woodgreen Community Services where I learned firsthand of the many services in community individuals and families utilize every day. These are experiences that I will draw upon in my new role.
With CLBC’s committed and professional staff and the ideas and dedication of individuals, self advocates, family members and community partners across BC, I am confident that together we can meet the challenges the community living sector may face, while making improvements to foster quality of life, connection to community, and independence. I look forward to working with you.
