Patterson Library Newsletter

October 2018
Autumn has arrived, and October weather is beginning to settle in! The crisp familiarity in the air reminds us that harvest is right around the corner!  Patterson Library welcomes the arrival of our new Library Assistant, Noah Dorman, who began his work with us in September. Noah is a 2018 graduate of Chautauqua Lake Central Schools, and has a lot of experience working with youth as a wrestling coach. Please welcome Noah, as one of the Patterson Library family! October at Patterson is packed with programs, classes, trainings, social networking, book club meetings, and so much more! Don't forget all of our YA and children's activities that will be highlighted in our Patterson Park Newsletter. If you would like to subscribe to Patterson Park, please use the link on our home web-page. On October 29th, the Library System is moving all of the public libraries over to a new computer interface system, called Koha. Currently we use a system called Sirsi-Dynex. Koha is extremely user friendly and the whole Patterson team is currently training on Koha, which will allow us to answer any questions when we migrate on October 29th. Did you know that your new library director, Tom Vitale, is a Notary Public? Tom will be available during his hours at Patterson to provide notary services to the community, gratis! Our Culinary Creations Cook Book Club has become quite popular, and so we will have a second cohort of the club, that will meet in the evenings, to accommodate those individuals unable to attend our original noon meeting times. The theme for the month of October is "Breads & Soups". The sign up sheet for recipes, and the 4 cooks books we are referencing are currently on the circulation desk begging for you to fill them out! Please note that Literary Circle will meet on October 20th this month. Finally, on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 6 PM - 8 PM we will host a Community Connections Night. This program is the revitalized version of our former "New Neighbors Night". While we hope all of our new community members can attend, we look forward to EVERYONE stopping in! We will have many of our local businesses; some with samples of their wares! We will have many guests to give us information about our amazing community! We wish you an amazing October!
