Haddingtons Hosts Beer and Cheese Pairing Event Featuring Cheese Expert Cathy Strange:

Tasting Menu Includes North Coast Brewing Company Beers, Fine Cheeses & Five-Course Meal

(June 16, 2011) Austin, TX ­— Haddingtons, Austin’s favorite downtown spot for hearty draught beers, cask ales and contemporary American tavern cuisine is presenting a one-of-a-kind cheese and beer pairing event featuring selections from North Coast Brewing Company, a 2011 Good Food Award-winning producer, and top-quality cheeses chosen by Whole Foods Market® cheese authority Cathy Strange. Haddingtons will host this one-time-only special tasting ($65 per person), which also includes an accompanying chef-prepared five-course meal, in its private Fox Tavern room on Monday, July 25 at 7 p.m.
 
The tasting event will highlight the finest cheeses from throughout the world selected by Strange, an American Cheese Society member, the global cheese buyer for Whole Foods Market and one the United States ambassadors for the international Cheese Guilde des Fromagers de Saint-Uguzon. In designing the beer and cheese pairings for the event, Strange worked closely with Austinite and co-owner of North Coast, Tom Allen, as well as with Brewmaster Mark Ruedrich. The tasting event will feature North Coast ales and their award-winning Old Stock 2011 Vintage Ale.
 
Six of North Coast’s Premium, Ultra Premium and Artisan Series Ales will be featured with Cathy’s Cheese Pairings and Chef Corwell’s culinary creations.  The ales will be featured in different formats from cask ale, regular keg and various format size bottles.  A lively discussion of each beer and the cheese and food pairings will offer an informative experience while, of course, offering a fulfilling culinary experience.  The specific menu will be released by July 1st
