Last quarter, funding to startups based in the tech hub dropped below $10B for the first time since 2017. 

Deals also suffered, coming in at 465 total — the lowest level in 5+ years.

The #2 US metro, New York, was more resilient. 

Funding in the quarter fell to $4.6B across 362 deals — levels last seen in 2020. 

Is Silicon Valley on course to give up its crown? 

While it’s too early to tell (and of course it remains the #1 US metro), NY and others are edging closer.
