Blockchain startups have raised $15B so far in 2021, propelled by a blockbuster Q3’21. 

Let me say that again — $15 billion.

In the third quarter, the industry saw 4.5 blockchain deals per business day. Bonkers.

Where’s all that money going?

Crypto exchanges captured the most funding of any other blockchain/crypto category in Q3’21, raising nearly $2B. That’s a 2,240% increase from the $84M raised in Q3’20.

NFT companies have also burst onto the stage. In Q3’21, funding topped $1B for the first time. 

If we zoom out, NFT funding is up an astonishing 6,427% in 2021 YTD compared to 2020.

On top of the funding boom, 12 new blockchain unicorns were born in Q3’21. The herd has nearly quadrupled since last year.
