5G is actually the next generation of wireless technology, which is critical as we stay hunkered down at home and remote working technologies become more important than ever. 

All of your IoT devices — everything from your smartwatch to commercial security systems — depend on the speed and reliability of wireless networks. Today’s 4G tech can handle some of these IoT applications, but it isn’t nearly as fast, reliable, or flexible as 5G tech will be.
