Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got
Hi there,
So much goodness in this one that you should read it twice.
First, we've teamed up with Fortune Magazine for a joint review of Blockchain Trends & Opportunities. Robert Hackett of Fortune will be joined by CBI Intelligence Analyst, Arieh Levi.
If you're in what Dilbert calls the jargon matrix when it comes to blockchain, you should probably attend.

Also, we just released our 31-page Blockchain Investment Trends report, which provides a data-driven look at venture, corporate, and initial coin offering investment trends, and a view into blockchain’s immediate future.
Check out some highlights below.
But first.
Circle meets square
C'mon guys.

With this kind of stuff, it's a sign that either:
- You're not even trying
- Corporations are so thirsty for innovation that you can throw anything at them and it works
The colors, the square Venn diagram, the jargon.
Thx to NL subscriber, Maya Aweida, who shared this data viz gem with us.
Going for the gold
Today, Goldman Sachs released its third quarter earnings. The company reported net revenues of $8.33B and net earnings of $2.13B in Q3'17.
If you want to know where Goldman is going, you should read our Goldman Sachs Strategy Teardown, which looks at where the firm is placing future bets in terms of hiring, investing, and acquiring.

ICO hype
Over 250 blockchain teams have completed Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) since January 2016, with more than 55% of them raising during or after July 2017.

10,000 ideas with USAA
Building a culture of innovation is hard for incumbent large corporations.
It was a frequent topic at our last senior executive Council meeting. We dug into a case study we created around USAA's strategies to build a culture of innovation.
Zack Gipson, Chief Innovation Officer of USAA, joined us as well to share how:
- 94% of USAA's employees are engaged in the company's innovation program
- USAA received 10,000+ ideas last year
- The company creates virality for ideas that are submitted
If you are a C-level, president, or an EVP/SVP-level executive focused on strategy, growth, or innovation at a company with $1B+ in revenue, Councils is a peer group you should be part of.
You'll also get access to our previous Councils case studies and videos on the practices of folks at companies such as USAA and GE.
The next Councils meeting is December 11-12th, 2017 at Dropbox HQ in San Francisco.
Senior executives who are part of Councils also get complimentary admission to the A Ha! Conference.

Block brands
VCs have often looked to gain exposure to cryptocurrencies by investing in startups correlated with cryptocurrency prices and trading volume, such as exchanges or mining companies.
Investments by brand-name VCs into Coinbase (USV, Andreessen Horowitz), BTC China (Lightspeed), Bitmain (Sequoia Capital), and a number of other exchanges and mining companies emphasize this sustained trend.
