-90%: Premature births have dropped around the world amid the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the New York Times. Studies found a link between lockdowns and a fall in premature births — one team in Denmark even saw a sharp decline of 90%, though many other reported results were less dramatic. Suggested influencing factors include an increase in rest for some mothers and less exposure to air pollution. 
 

100 miles: The Andean condor can fly 100 miles without flapping its wings, according to recent research published in PNAS. The bird's 10-foot wingspan appears to help it catch bursts of rising air, allowing it to only flap its wings for about 1% of flight time. 
 

37 volcanoes: Researchers identified 37 recently active volcanoes on Venus, according to a study published in Nature Geoscience. The findings challenge the commonly-held notion among scientists that the planet is effectively geologically dormant.
