Medication Review Mentor
Dear <<First Name>>

You would be aware by now that AACP and the Pharmacy Guild of Australia announced changes to both the HMR and RMMR programs this morning.

For the HMR Program from 1 October 2011:
  • General practitioners will be able to refer directly to accredited pharmacists as well as per existing arrangements;
  • Rural loading payments will be based on the location of the consumer, rather than the location of the Section 90 pharmacy and paid by the Guild

For the RMMR program from 1 October 2011:
  • RMMR and QUM services will be separated and have separate payments
  • All RMMRs must be collaborative
  • QUM services may be conducted by registered pharmacists, who can contract separately with the Aged Care Facility

Medscope will be updating Medication Review Manager (MRM) in the coming months to incorporate the workflow necessary to facilitate these changes. Most of the requirements demanded from pharmacists can be automated within MRM.

The initial reaction by many pharmacists has been one of confusion. Be assured that Medscope will sift through the details and update MRM ensuring easy workflow management.
