Mental Health With God In Mind
View from the Couch- Annalise Tenhave

The isolation and loneliness characteristic of lockdowns is no joke. Look to Jesus. When Jesus was dying on the cross, he cried out in anguish about being forsaken – truly alone (Mark 15:34). Research clearly shows the effect of loneliness – reduced lifespan, cognitive ability, and physical health. During lockdowns, you might be feeling irritable, restless, flat, frustrated, sad, cranky, and generally lacking in motivation or the ability to concentrate. You’re not the only one feeling these things and it all comes under mental health.

In the last decade, mental health has been gaining attention and it’s at the fore right now. Statistics indicate that we all know (or will know) someone who’s struggling with their mental health. A friend, parent, sibling, child, grandparent, colleague – we all know someone. (In fact, in a family of 5, it’s likely at least 1 person will struggle with mental health).

Year 13 Zoom Information Night

Year 13 is a gospel gap year where you learn more about following Jesus in the Bible and what that looks like in all of life. It is not a year off Uni, but rather a foundational year for lifelong Christian growth and friendship development that leads you into adult life. Current and former St Michael’s people to have done Yr13 include: Mitch Walker, Geoff Miller, Josh Hayward, Ali Shannon, Lara Hilliard, Bek Stacey, Lyndon Kerr, Ned Pratt + more. The course includes mission trips, Bible and ministry subjects, multiple camps, Church volunteer ministry, discipleship groups and plenty of other fun life skills and experiences. This coming Tuesday night from 7pm via zoom there is an info session, & there will be one every month. Rego here.

LiT Summer Camp

January this year, St Michael’s sent 31 senior high school youth to the Leaders in Training camp (Anglican Youthworks). It is a significant camp in the discipleship, leadership training and ministry development of our youth group, leading into kids, schools and youth ministry. It’s on again, Lord willing, this coming summer. REGO opens very soon! Spring LiT conference has been cancelled, therefore the summer one will sell out quicker than toilet paper in a supermarket! Rego opens September 1st, GET ON IT!!!
